Matriarch

I am not a Monarch

People call me Matriarch.

I lead the herd of elephants

Taking care of baby calves.

Being one of the oldest

As well as the wisest

My experience is respected

And my judgement is followed.

Baby cows stay with us

For eternity

While bulls leave us

After attaining maturity

We greet each other

By holding trunk of one another

Which makes our bond strong

And that lasts life long.
