How Could l Live In Pride?

Yes I am an Indian,

And I am proud of my nation.

But before dwelling in pride,

I would like to tell you,

There are reasons that sometimes,

Hinder my pride.

How could I live in pride when,

Thousands of them are very poor,

Who die out of hunger.

Many of them are still deprived,

Of basic needs food and shelter.

How could I live in pride when,

Many kids are compelled to work,

Devoid of their childhood and education.

Many although go to school,

Don't get a quality education.

How could I live in pride when,

Many girls succumb to pain,

Due to dowry and domestic violence.

Many of them are molested and harassed,

But the law remains silent.

How could I live in pride when,

Many parents still think,

Their daughter as a burden to them.

They crush her dreams,

Put her education besides.

How could I live in pride when,

Reservation is everywhere,

Entrance exams are unfair.

Students lack practical knowledge,

And struggle later unemployed.

How could I live in pride when

Corruption is still prominent,

Corrupt ministers don't go to jail.

Party give them tickets,

They get elected on fake promises and rule.

These problems hinder my pride,

But I love my India,

Being an Indian, Want back my pride.
