I vividly remember that night,

The dark was a different kind of hue.

I was drunk and my words occluded,

My soul was craving an intimacy it once acquired.

To self-destruct I twisted a plot,

Put myself to test at the worst.

A late night coffee and a few tears,

Yet another way to feed my fear.

The conversation was dull, mundane and ordinary,

A typical break up story.

Before leaving, he pulled me close.

Held me in his arms and silenced my demons.

All voices lost and only his heartbeat rang in my ears,

Stuck betwixt and between the right and the wrong,

Lost was the understanding to hold on or to let go.

Parting from the hug it dawned on me,

I had found my home.
