VISH: The Revenge

Sequence 1| 10 Pm

A building gatekeeper making tea and blabbering to self.

"Avinash Awasthi, dressed up in office attire, comes walking down the street enters through the gate into a building.

"Sir, Will you have Tea", says the gatekeeper but gets unnoticed.

As Avinash strolls towards the building stairs, Shukla Ji, stops him.

Shukla Ji: Hey Avinash, Nowadays you come home very late. It seems like the workload on you has risen.

Avinash: Yes Uncle, some work.

Shukla Ji: Okay, I can understand. Earlier, you used to come and sit with us, but after that incident..!.

Avinash exits without responding to his chat.

Avinash! Avinash, listen, calls Shukla Ji. “Poor Kid”, sighs Shukla Ji.

Avinash on reaching his apartment knocks the door followed by pressing the door-bell but suddenly realizes that the door is locked from outside. He looks for the key in his pocket, finds the key and unlocks the door.

Sequence 2| 8 Pm

On opening his apartment’s door, he sees a birthday party happening.

Aakar, an 8-year old boy comes running and hugs Avinash,  “See father, my friends have brought me all these gifts”. He shows the gifts to Avinash.

Avinash, wishes his kid a warm happy birthday by lifting him up to his chest and kissing the forehead.

Mrs. Avinash, comes holding a cake in her hand and says in a taunted tone, “Impossible, is it you? Not expected you this early. I thought like every day you will come late, and till that time the guest would have gone”

Avinash looks at Aakar with playful expressions and says, “Son, your mom doesn’t know that how much I love you, right! Come, let’s cut the cake”.

Avinash gestures and calls everyone for the cake cutting ceremony. The rhyme of Happy Birthday filled the room with blissful smiles of everyone. 

After the birthday celebration, Avinash and his family standing at the apartment door biding thanks to the guests.

Avinash: It was great having you guys here, Aakar was super happy to see his friends here. Thanks a lot guys for coming.

Mrs. Avinash: Really, It meant a lot.

Guest 1: Don’t be that formal, Avinash. In fact, we enjoyed it a lot.

Guest 2: Tittu, loves Aakar’s company. I think they’ll soon be the best of friends. (Guest 2, the parent mentions her son Tittu)

Guest exits. Avinash closes the door. After such a tiring day, Avinash strolls towards the sofa, sits back in the comfort of sofa and closes his eyes.

Sequence 3| 10:15 Pm

Avinash opens his eyes and tilts his head down to his front, revealing 3 terrified people tied up and panicking. Avinash looks straight into their eyes for a couple of minutes, stands up and walks toward the kitchen. There he pours milk in the glasses. He opens the kitchen cabinet and takes out a jar of Horlicks, pour a spoonful in each glass along with a straw.

He walks toward them and unwraps the cloth tied around their mouth. One-by-one Avinash forcefully makes them drink that milk.

One of the captives says, “If you are so keen in keeping us alive then why don’t you leave us free (with an expression of frustration).

Avinash ignores him, ties them back and goes to the kitchen.

Sequence 4| 10:40 Pm

Mrs. Avinash(cleaning utensils): He (Aakar, her son) showed no tantrums today before taking milk. Impressive!

Avinash is shown keeping the Horlicks jar back in the cabinet. Avinash grins. Both look at each other and pass a smile.

Avinash (with hunger expression): Listen, are we left with something to eat?

Mrs. Avinash: You and your hunger! What about butter chicken leftover?

Avinash: Anything! my dear. He kisses her wife on the forehead and leaves.

Mrs. Avinash brings a plate for Avinash, cleans it with a cloth and keeps it on the dining table.

Sequence 5| 10:30 Pm

Avinash puts the last plate for the three captives, revealing that he has prepared food for them.

Avinash: Today I have made special Peas Cottage cheese for you but the bread got over baked, please adjust!

The captives look at Avinash with surprise thinking that he has gone mad.

Captive 2: I have never seen a bottle-head like you. You have gone nuts! You feed us with good food. 

Captive 3 interrupts, “And Milk, My mother had never forced me for milk” And Stares at Avinash.

Captive 2 continues, “What do you want?”

Avinash: Does your wife love you?

Each of them gets surprised and says nothing.

“Huh? You Tell”, says Avinash gesturing towards one of them.

Aviansh still doesn’t get any answer except a confused stuttering reply, “Ye..sss”

Other Captive replies with, “Why, you don’t love your wife and family?”

Avinash keeps his shut, ties all of them again and goes to the bed.

He lies down and her family (Avinash, Aakar and the wife) is shown lying alongside him. Avinash switches off the side-lamp.

Sequence 7| 11 Pm

Camera reveals Avinash pointing a gun towards three captives.

Captive B: You have gone nuts, you’ll regret it!

Captive C: Truly mad you are, you are letting us go. Then, why did you abduct us?

Captive A says (in an angry tone), “Next time when we come, we will not just eat and go. We’ll pay you for everything!

They all leave and Avinash puts his gun down and fires a shot revealing the gun had no bullets in it. Avinash turns towards his car. He reaches home, opens the door, puts his car keys on the table and goes near to a wall calendar, picks a red marker and crosses the 30^th date on the calendar

Avinash stares at the date for a while and walks towards the bathroom.

He looks into the mirror and a glance towards the bottle marked 30. He takes the empty bottle and throws it in the garbage bin and keeps the garbage bag outside the apartment.

Sequence 8| Next day| 8:30Am

Avinash dressed in office attire walking down the stairs of his apartment, as he exits the building gate, a garbage guy passes by.

While he is walking down to the bus stop, he sees a school kid with his father waiting for the bus. He looks at him with a warm bliss, the kid smiles back at him. Avinash, recalls an instance of his kid smiling at him the same way.

Sequence 9| 11 Pm

Three masked men barged into a flat through an unlocked door. They attack Avinash sitting on the dining table having late night food.

Avinash notices them and says, “We are not going to panic, take away whatever you want to take”.

One of the masked men, hits Avinash with a flower bass kept and says,” Now, I am sure, you won’t panic” and laughs.

A few minutes later, Avinash got back to his consciousness and with a hazed vision he sees, two people on top of his wife.

Avinash tries to retaliate with rage, but couldn’t move due to excessive pain and bleeding.

One of the masked men comes to Avinash, holds his hair and says, “Tch, Tch Tch, anger is not good for you”. “You Indeed had a good wife”, winked the masked man with cut mark on his left eyebrows.

Background voice of his wife screaming in pain.

“We are done, let’s go!” says one masked man to another.

They all start moving towards the exit door.

Masked man A: One second, I forgot to do one thing!

The other two, Asks what?

He goes inside and slits Mrs. Avinash’s throat and comes back with the knife dripping with blood. 

He shows the Knife to Avinash and says, “I’m Done”- with a fiendish grin and exits.

Avinash left sobbing on the floor!

Avinash drags himself to his wife, screams with the pain and anger. He, then realizes that his son was sleeping in the bedroom. He incessantly drags himself to the room and finds his son’s body soaked in blood.

Sequence 10| 11:20Pm

Sir, there were 3 people, all masked; they killed my wife and son. They raped her and killed, says a sobbing Avinash. “Please do something, Sir”

We’ll do. We get paid for doing all this shit only. Some get raped, some get killed and due to all this we had to sit the whole night at the police station eating these filthy peanuts”, answered the half-bald police inspector. “Damn, all stones are found in my peanuts only”

Avinash continues. Sir out of those 3, one had a cut on his…

Police Inspector in a raising voice, “Tambe, write his report, otherwise, he’ll chew up my brain”. 

Avinash understood that the policeman is not going to help him. He reports the crime and reaches back home with the Police.

He sees Policemen taking his wife’s and kids body to the van for the mortem.  He gets inside his flat, locks him up, falls on his knees. He sobs.

While sobbing, he sees a medicine that was given to him for his wife. He recalls the conversation he had with the doctor.

 

Doctor: Take this as a drop, each day with milk or warm water.

Mrs. Aviansh nods and looks at Avinash gesturing him to remember all of this.

Doctor: Although, this is an anti-asthmatic drug Avinash, remember if she takes an overdose of it or say for more days as prescribed, it can act as a rat poison. So, beware of it).

“Rat Poison”, Avinash murmurs.

He takes the Bottle and mixes it with the Horlicks Jar he had for his kid, Aakar.

The Poison in those 3 murderers killed my wife and son, now this poison will kill them, says Avinash with rage. 

Sequence 11| 10 Am

A Policeman (On call): Mr. Avinash, I am calling you from the Oshiwara Police station.

Avinash replies, “Yes”

“We have found 3 dead bodies, we suspect that these are those three people who have killed your wife and son. Their death is under suspicion because all three of them are unharmed and it looks like they died naturally. You would have to come to the morgue to identify them”.

“Yes, I am coming”, replies Avinash.

Call disconnects.

Avinash is sitting in a tattoo shop.

“As it is said we cannot change what is written in our destiny……so I re-wrote it with the Ink!” , says Avinash. The Tattoo of word Vish-meaning Poison”

"It took me 5 years to find them and to kill the Poison in them, I have to use Poison"

He stands up, pays for the Tattoo and gets into his car. Opens Google Map, “Oshiwara Police Station”, says Avinash.
