THE INSEPARABLE LOVE

60-year old Ram taken care of by his son Prakash. He is a widower with a 10-year-old daughter Pranita.

Pranita now comes to Ram and tells him, "Grandpa. Good evening."

"Good evening da. Have you come from the school?"

"Yes Grandpa," said Pranita.

Ram looked for a while and Pranita continues.

"Grandpa. In my school, I have been given a story competition to write a story about an old couple's love story. If you have any interesting story, can you please tell me?" asked Pranita.

Ram Babu thinks for a while and continues telling, "Pranita. Have you taken the note?"

"Yes Grandpa," said Pranita.

"Ok. Now, this is a story about a teenager's love. His journey of love in the teen life and in college life" said Ram.

(It goes as a flashback, narrated by Ram[about his own love story, periods of 1972-1988]).

Set in 1972, Ram was 12 years old and his father Dubai Babu was busy developing his business empire. Ram have a huge family consisting of his paternal uncle, maternal uncle, maternal aunt and mother.

Ram had been ignored by his family due to the heavy work pressures and he himself was worried about it. He leads an idle and unhappy life until a girl named Swetha intervened in his life.

Swetha is a talkative and happy go lucky girl. She is from an upper-middle-class family in Kaniyur, near Udumalaipettai. Swetha's father Nagendra Babu is a factionist leader, who tried to solve the issues of casteism and violence in his village.

She loses her mother Nadhiya at a younger age due to the feuds. Henceforth, she goes away from all kinds of this violence, after convincing her father. She stayed in the hostel.

Ram meets Swetha one day.

"Hi. I am Ram" said Ram Babu.

"Myself, I am Swetha," said Swetha.

After this, they shake their hands and the next day, Ram explains about his family(when she asks him) and asks Swetha, "What about your family?"

"My family is rich and worked as farmers. They had huge lands, water resources, etc. But, due to caste feuds, we were left to regret the rest of life" said Swetha.

Swetha and Ram become close friends, having a close bond. They share lunch, admires nature and plays games like Tennis, Basketball and Football.

One day Swetha tells Ram, "Ram. Do you believe love or like girls?"

"No Swetha. I don't have trust in love as well as never trusted girls. For the first time, I trusted girls in my life" said Ram Babu.

"If I fall in love with anyone, he should be like you, Ram. You look so cute da" said Swetha and she hugs him.

Ram leaves a smile and holds her hand. He is happier that, a girl loved him for the first time. Ram writes letter, quotes and records audio about the importance of girls and love on his phone. Later, he sees a few gifts and roses, which he had prepared to propose his love to Swetha.

One day, Swetha comes to him and introduces her love interest, Dinesh(his close friend).

"Hey, Dinesh. Come da. Have your seat" said Ram.

"Yes da," said Dinesh, smiling.

"Ram. I told you that a guy like you will be my lover right. That's he" said Swetha.

Upon hearing this, Ram was heartbroken and his heart seems to be stopped in a second. He painfully smiles and wishes them to have a good journey of love.

For several days, Ram is idle and sad, lamenting about his love failure. Aravinth, one of his close friend advises him to forget about the love.

Since it's just a crush and not love. In Teenager life, it's common. True love will come only when we go into college.

Ram eventually changes his school and three years later, he has now entered college. The college has a different atmosphere when compared to the school atmosphere.

Here, there are caste conflicts, Factionalism and student politics. Besides politics, Ragging has become common among seniors. Initially, Ram felt disgusted and irritated due to the tortures. But he himself started to rag and tease students after some days.

Ram was surprised to see that, "Girls are not underneath to Boys. They are also capable to do anything. From ragging, flirting to teasing everyone."

He is furthermore shocked to know that, "they are not worried to drink beers and liquor."

When Ram asked his father he told him, "For this itself, you got shocked ah! You have to see a lots more in your college life da...you would be shocked if you see those things."

His friends have changed him to a bad and big spoilt brat almost until he met his collegemate Yazhini. She is a brahmin girl from a middle-class family in R.S.Puram.

Her beautiful lips, white-cheeky face attracts him a lot and is immediately smitten with her beauty. Yazhini and Ram meet co-incidentally and becomes close friends.

She is very sensitive and emotional in nature. Since her mother died after giving birth to her and she had been raised by her single father, with lots of love and affection, being showered.

Yazhini never behaves angry and have a normal attitude to everyone. That's the highlight and hence, Ram became a good friend with her. She becomes happier and leads a jolly life with him.

Eventually, they both fell in love and during valentines day, Ram proposes his love to Yazhini. She accepts.

Yazhini and Ram start to spend their time together. They roam, eats together and lead a happier life. But, Ram became busier with his dreams of joining the Air force as years rolled and he starts to get into a hectic schedule.

He failed to spend a qualitative time with Yazhini. One day, she angrily comes to his house(when no one was there in his house) and has a huge argument with Ram.

Ram tried his best to console her and at one point, he loses his temper. Unable to control his temper, he slaps her.

With tears rolling down from her eyes Yazhini tells him, "You too have now proved to have a similar attitude, the other boys used to have. That's great Ram."

She leaves heartbroken. The sky turns dark and Thunder lightens. Rains start to pour. Frightened, Ram rushes to Yazhini, where he sees her standing in the rain and wetting up her sari...

After consoling her, Ram took Yazhini inside the house. There, he touches her neck and analyzes that, she have an extreme fever.

"Yazhini. Come to my bedroom" said Ram.

She agrees and goes with him. Ram makes her take a rest and prepares kashayam and steam.

After a while, she gets cured and takes a rest.

Ram gives her a glass of water.

"Yazhini. Why were you this much anger? I got busy with my NCC activities and hence, I failed to spend time with you" said Ram.

"I know Ram. But, at least you can spend a time of five minutes right" said Yazhini.

Ram agreed and he sees a cockroach going into her waist. Feared, Ram touches her waist and kills the cockroach.

Ram looks into the eyes of Yazhini and tells her, "You look so beautiful, dear."

"Thank you, Ram," said Yazhini.

"Yazhini. Your father would you now right?" asked Ram.

"No da. He has gone to Bangalore for some works and would take five days for him his return back. That's why I met you now" said Yazhini.

"Haa! Only you have been there in the house ah?" asked Ram.

"Yes," said Yazhini. Ram tried to go out from the room and Yazhini asked him, "Stay for some time da."

"No Yaazhu. I have some works. I will leave" said Ram.

At that time, Ram recalls her words, "Her father will return after five days."

"Aaha! She is making me think like STR" and looks at her body.

"What?" asked Yazhini.

"Nothing. I have forgotten to take my glass...

That's why I came" said Ram.

He takes and asks Yazhini, "Should I leave now?"

"Yeah. Everything is over...you have to go right" said Yazhini.

"Hmm...nothing worked out," said Ram and he leaves from the room.

"One minute da" said Yazhini.

Ram stops and she asks him, "Should you have to leave now?"

"Worked out," said Ram and he tells her, "We have spent a great time and everything" and kisses her on the lips.

He continues to linger her lips and takes her to the bed. After removing his dress and her dress(Naked), they have sex(or make love) and spends the whole night together. The next day, Yazhini cried.

Ram Babu kissed her and asked, "Why are you crying? What happened?"

"I have done a mistake. It all should happen after the marriage. I was in a haste" said Yazhini.

"You should think about this yesterday itself. Hmm" said Ram and he again kisses her.

"My work has been done," said Ram and he wears his dress.

To hide her nude body, Yazhini wears the bed sheet and says to Ram, "All is gone. All because of you. How will I show my face to our friends?"

"Show your face to me. All will be fine" said Ram.

"Okay. Will you marry me?" asked Yazhini.

"What? Marriage ah? That means. Who is going to love you? You have gone to marriage" said Ram.

"What are you saying da?" asked Yazhini.

"My work has been finished. Hence, I am leaving you" said Ram.

"Then means?" asked Yazhini.

"I have given you alvaa. What did you think about boys like us? Will we love only one girl and spend our whole life with you? We are different. We set 4 girls as a target and brainwash two girls and finally, pick them up. For you, this is the first time. But for me, it's so many time. I am the king of sex" said Ram.

Feeling Heartbroken and cheated, Yazhini cries louder and Ram laughingly tells her, "Everything is over. Why are you crying now? You have to become pregnant, etc..."

She beats him and shouts at him telling him, "Are you a human? I believed you. Why beat you? I have to beat myself for being cheated. Why did you cheat me? Why did you cheat me da, you idiot?"

She cries and Ram holds her telling her, "Look at me."

She looks at him and he tells her, "I told these things to tell that, I am not such a guy. I told all these from my mind. But now I tell this from my heart. Till I die, I will marry you. Yesterday, we made love. That's not sex. We showed how we love each other. Till I die, you are my only love."

She cryingly hugs him and he asks her, "Are you ready for another round?"

She beats him and says, "Okay. Come." They again make love.

After a few days later(aftermath of final year exams), Ram's parents pass away due to health ailments and he is disowned by his family members. Since they were keen to get his wealth and he heartbreaking leaves the house.

Yazhini's family adopts him. He takes a separate house in her family. Later, Yazhini's father learns about their love and initially, he opposed stiffly.

Because Ram is from different caste and fears caste conflicts. However, Yazhini is stubborn.

Yazhini's father eventually accepts their love. Finally, Ram gets selected for the Indian Army(after being trained physically and facing many challenges) in November 1997 and leaves for Army after getting married to Yazhini.

Yazhini gets pregnant with Ram's child and she informs happily Ram. He feels happier as well as sad. Since he doesn't know whether he would be alive or dead in the upcoming rescue mission(asked to rescue a journalist).

Ram manages to rescue the journalist from the clutches of terrorists. After some days, he returns to Coimbatore on January 14, 1999. They all lead happier life.

(Flashback ends)

Ram's granddaughter writes up to that and she asked him, "Grandpa. After that, what happened?"

"I will tell you next day, ma. Now, grandpa has to take a rest" said Pranita.

While taking rest, a few reminiscences of the Coimbatore 1998 bombings and a person's death reminds Ram and he starts to have breathing problems.

However, his son Prakash comes at the right time and saved him.

The next day Pranita comes to meet his grandpa(after attending the schools) and asked her grandpa, "Grandpa. My friend and teachers told the story to be interesting. They asked me, what happened to the character Yazhini in the climax..."

Her grandpa Ram tells her the events of 1998.

After Ram returned to Coimbatore, the district was put into a strict lockdown for two weeks. Because terrorists were told to be there in Coimbatore.

Ram planned to show a surprise for Yazhini on 14.02.1998.

However, tragedy unexpectedly strikes him. Yazhini went for some works to market Kottaimedu in her car.

But, she gets killed in the bomb blasts. Besides her, A total of 58 people were killed and over 200 injured in the 12 bomb attacks in 11 places, all within a 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) radius. The explosives used were found to be gelatin sticks activated by timer devices and were concealed in cars, motorcycles, bicycles, sideboxes of two-wheelers, denim and rexin bags, and fruit carts. Several bombs that failed to detonate were defused by bomb disposal squads of the Army, National Security Guards and Tamil Nadu Commando School.

The bombings were apparently in retaliation to the 1997 Coimbatore riots during November – December the previous year, when Hindu fundamentalists groups killed 18 Muslims[4] and looted several thousands of properties of Muslims following the murder of a traffic policeman named Selvaraj, by a member of the radical Islamist group Al Ummah. The main conspirator was found to be S A Basha, the founder of Al Ummah, an Islamic fundamentalist body. Investigators found out that the blasts were a part of a larger conspiracy to target L.K.Advani, the leader of Bharatiya Janata Party on that day at 4 p.m in his election meeting.

A judicial committee formed on 7 April 2000 under Justice P.R. Gokulakrishnan to probe the case confirmed that Al Ummah was responsible for the attacks. The committee tabled its final report in the Tamil Nadu Assembly on 18 May 2000, whose recommendations were accepted in principle by the state government. The trial of the case began on 7 March 2002 and as many as 1,300 witnesses were examined. S. A. Basha, the mastermind of the blasts was found guilty of hatching a criminal conspiracy to trigger a series of explosions there on 14 February 1998 and was convicted of a life sentence along with 12 others. In September 2002, Imam Ali and four others, suspected to be involved in the blasts were killed in a police encounter in Bangalore.

The loss reported by the platform vendors was several crores, but the state government awarded compensation of ₹4.92 crores (US$690,000) to all the victims. An individual ceiling of ₹1 lakh (US$1,400) was fixed as the maximum for each victim and a total of ₹3.15 crore (US$440,000) was awarded.

After the postmortem of Yazhini, Ram took his child(premature delivery) and quit his Indian Army profession. He raised up his son with lots of love and affection. Ram's son to faces the same situation now....he raised his daughter as a solo...

Upon hearing these, Prakash feels proud of his father and hugs him.

"Grandpa. What tile is to be given to the story?" asked Pranita.

"The Inseparable bond," said Ram...she names the story and later, he goes to take rest...smiling at Yazhini's photo...and reminiscences that, "Love is an inseparable bond, which cannot be separated by anyone."
