The Parent's Inspiration

Parents play an important role in shaping the personality of a child by inculcating the moral values in him or her. But Andrina never understood this. For her the parents are only for taking care of their needs and fulfilling their wishes even if it is unwanted. Andrina was the only child of a middle class family. She was studying in the eighth class. Her parents did everything to give her education in one of the best schools of Delhi. It was the most favorite school of the elites. Andrina loved the school very much not because of academics but because of the rich girl colleagues. She always lived in the world of fascination. She admired their attitudes and show-offs. She loved to be one of them and followed their footsteps. As a result, she was lacking behind in her studies. The parents advised her to come out of the world of fantasy. They wanted her to be focused and goal oriented. But all went in vain as she didn’t pay any heed to it. She did not do well in her exams and got very less marks. The parents got worried about her future. Both the parents decided to send her to hostel as they found it to be the best way to make her independent. The rude girl took it as a punishment as she could not read her parent’s mind.

At the hostel, the life was completely different from the one she was leading. She was forced to do her work on her own. She had to follow the hostel’s rule. Even the food she did not relish but there was no other alternative left for her. She kept on cribbing whenever she got a chance to speak to her parents. She never realized how hard was the decision for the parents for sending her to a well-known hostel. She never thought of the fact as to what financial constraints her parents might be facing. But slowly she adjusted there and made few friends who were good in academics. During the summer vacations, she came back to her home. The parents showered their love by presenting her the gifts she always needed. Every day the mother cooked food of her taste. The parents just wanted her to be happy. It was her first year in the hostel. She kept cribbing but after spending more time she resigned herself to the situation.

After completing her ten plus two class, she came back her home. She tried to contact her old friends but they showed cold shoulder. She was sad but soon she realized that her parents were right in advising her to be focused. During her stay she noticed that her mother was giving tuition to earn extra money to fulfil the daughter’s wishes. Father was doing over-time in the office to earn extra money to give comfortable life to his child. After noticing all this, she sobbed in her bed. She could feel now as to how much pain the parents take to keep their child happy. But the child doesn’t bother at all. She got inspired by her parents and decided to keep them happy by following their footsteps. She worked hard and completed her higher studies with flying colors. She tried hard to get a job in one of the MNC. She was excited that she got a golden opportunity to share her parent’s liabilities. But something else was written in her fate. It is said that sometimes nature plays her game to make someone important.

It was the last day of the month when she got her own hard earned money. She bought some presents for her parents to show her love and respect. Everyone enjoyed the supper that day. Her father just blessed her and advised her to live simple life and have high thinking. She promised him and went to her bedroom. Next morning, she got a call in her office from her mother asking her to reach home as soon as possible as her father’s condition was very bad. Both of them took him to hospital but due to severe heart attack he left for heavenly abode. She thought her life is finished but then she glanced at her mother became silent after his death. Now Andrina knew as what to do next. She consoled her mother and assured her that she would take the whole responsibility of her. She shifted from that area to another house near her office so that they could lead a new phase of life. She got married to a man of her own choice and had two daughters. After few years she lost her husband and now she was left all alone to carry out the liabilities as the children were small. She didn’t lose hope. She only remembered her father’s words of living simple life with high thinking. She was so much inspired by her parent’s that she advised her daughters the same. And they lived life happily ever after.
