One Love

"Excuse me, may I sit here"? Margaret turned following the voice. An old man was standing there. "May I sit here?" he smiled and approached again. She hesitated but Agreed. "I'm Joe, a regular morning walker here," he continued. Margaret was quiet. Indifference on another corner though didn't bother Joe much. 

Those one-sided morning rendezvous at the park continued. Days passed by. Ice melted. Friendship bloomed. 

He proposed her for a coffee at an old and famous breakfast joint. She smiled in acceptance. 

Alzheimer's had locked all her memories of those golden days of their togetherness. Joe had to unlock it and rewrite their fifty-year-old love story. 

"Till death do us apart," he thought as together, they started walking on the known yet unknown roads of love again. Decades-old wedding rings chuckled in his blazer's pocket.
