The Unlocked Secret

Her flight bound to New Jersey has been delayed due to rains. Seated beside the glass panes at the lounge Meghna gazed at the droplets. She used to love rains at one point in her life.

 A beautiful, bubbly college girl then, Meghna had a huge crush on him. His sophisticated style made him stand out in the crowd.

She got to know him more during the Annual college festival as they both were in charge of the debate competitions. 

“I feel so lucky that I could work with you,” Meghan said blushingly.

“The pleasure is mutual Meghna.”

For Joseph, Meghna brought a smile in his lonely life. Born and brought up in an orphan house, the first time felt the softer side of life. The cupid struck soon and they were head over heels in love with each other.

Joseph knew that Meghna belonged to the family of Media baron and his social and economic stature couldn’t match theirs. Add to it the religious disparity. 

Meghna promised him that she will stand by his side come what may. The color of religions would never overlap the color of love.

 Before he left for abroad, for his first job, they met for one last time.

“I am feeling suffocated under their threats. Make me yours.”

“Shh.” He calmed her down.

Deep down Meghna knew she won’t be able to see him again. She surrendered and drowned herself in the passion, love, and want. He left and they could never meet again.

 He was staring at her. She was oblivious of him as she kept staring at the rain. As he gently tapped her shoulder, she could sense the familiar touch and looked around only to see his welled up eyes.

“ Why Meghna, why you abandoned me? I kept waiting for you.”

“Because I was scared. They would have killed you.”

Suddenly a three-year boy clutched her hand.

Joseph took his steps back. 

“Stay happy. God bless.” He uttered.

“Joseph...he is the secret which I kept locked in my heart for so long. They were going to kill you. I left that day, carrying a part of you inside me forever. John is your son. I had fled. I knew they would hunt you down first in search for me. I stayed away from you because the strings of my heart always feared for your safety.”

Joseph was speechless. As the rain stopped, they boarded the plane together, this time to fly together to make their dreams come true.
