Being a part of financial sector for almost a decade now it’s impossible to ignore the same. Even if you want to ignore you can’t, since it’s in newspaper, news channels and in all the lunch, tapri chai breaks discussions with your colleagues and friends. The havoc is such that even good rated performers are being forced to start thinking about their secured future both professionally and financially. And the biggest part is emotional one which one can’t overlook.

As a fresh pass out from college when one starts to work all the focus is on growth in terms of compensation, job responsibilities, grade, learning. And remember I am only talking about people who work hard and do contribute to organisation. One fine day when one have achieved all of the above a mandate comes that you have to move out, reason could be non performance, cost cutting, corporate restructuring or any other that HR and Business feel like giving. Who is the sufferer- The employee who is completely dependent on monthly salary, some may not even have financial back up.

Don’t think about going to Indian labor and employment law, there are provision but it is among one of the most complex in world. Well organisation are not that inconsiderate either, they do give notice period compensation and time to look for suitable job but yes timeline is not infinite. It will also eventually lead bad reputation of company in market which no organisation want.

Hence the process of hire and fire goes on, firing the non performers will improve overall productivity, hiring outsiders has less long term financial obligations. This debate has no end, it all seems correct from organisation point of view, at the end it’s the employee who need to define his trajectory considering competitive and tapered market scenario.
