Shopkeeper And His Three Sons

Once upon a time, there was a shopkeeper in a village. The shopkeeper had 3 sons who were very beautiful but only the elder son was hardworking and intelligent. The elder son helps his father at the shop and handling the other work. The rest of the two sons of the shopkeeper were very lazy and greedy. Shopkeeper always tells his sons that,

"Dear sons always remember nothing is possible without hard work."

The elder son was very intelligent and kind-hearted. One day the shopkeeper was sleeping in his house and he was feeling very uncomfortable. So he called his sons, the shopkeeper was having so much land and money. Due to this, the shopkeeper was very tensed about what will be the future of his sons. They all will fight for all the things after my death. The second and the third son of the shopkeeper were very greedy. They were just in need of their father's land and properties and always think about shortcuts to become rich.

Father was knowing each and everything about all his sons. So he got an idea to check the mentality and loyalty of his sons. He called all the sons and told them, "there is a task for all of you and those who complete the task will be the owner of my property."

After listening to these words, the second and the third sons got excited, because both were greedy. But the first son was very upset because he doesn't want any property, he was satisfied with his work. But after his father's statement, he was nervous and tensed, and he was thinking that why father is giving a task for the property.

The shopkeeper told his sons: "tomorrow I will give you the task."

In the morning, the shopkeeper called all his sons and gave them the task. He has given the task to the three sons to fill the entire room with less investment. For this, he has given three different rooms to the sons and given one full day time. The second and third son was very excited because those who win will be the owner of the property. But those who lose have to leave the property and house also. So the second son was thinking, "what should I purchase by which I can fill the entire room with less investment?", so he purchased cotton and filled the entire room. The third Son was also thinking, "what will fill the room with less investment?", so he purchased dry grass and filled the entire room with dry grass. The Sun was going to set and time was getting over, suddenly the elder son went to the shop and purchased a candle and a matchbox, after that he came in the room and lighted the candle. After lighting the candle the entire room was filled with the light.

The time was over and now it was the time for judgment. So the shopkeeper called his friends to judge the winner. First, they all went to the first room which was allotted to the second son it was filled with Cotton. Now they went to the second room which was allotted to the third son, it was filled with dry grass, but the investment was less than the second son. So until now, the third Son was leading. Lastly, they all went to the third room and it was allotted to the elder son, it was empty, only one candle was burning in the whole room. So the third son was excited that he is the winner of the task and now he is the owner of the property.

But the final result was in the favor of elder son because the room was not empty, it was full of light. So the judges declared the elder son as the winner. Now according to the rule of the task, the losers have to leave the property.

The second and the third son of the shopkeeper were disappointed and got a big lesson. Now they had to the house. Suddenly the elder son stops both his brothers and tells them - "don't go anywhere, stay with us and try to work hard instead of thinking shortcut", because the elder son was intelligent and kind-hearted. So as a result, the shopkeeper was happy because now all his sons were staying together without any greed.

Moral: "Don't be greedy and always work hard to achieve success."
