Love or Lust?

It has been 15 years since Zoya met Rihaan. She is happy in her life as it is at present. Her husband is perfect and so is her son. Yet she agreed to go to the reunion of her college. Somewhere in her heart she was hoping to see Rihaan again. She didn't love him anymore but there was a story between them 15 years ago. They met in their first year of college. Soon Zoya and Rihaan became best friends. In their final year of college Zoya said to Rihaan,

"I love you. Will you marry me?"

Wasn't this an obvious question after being so close to someone for 3 years?

Rihaan smiled and said

"I don't love you in that sense. I will always be your friend."

Zoya was teary eyed and left without saying goodbye. They never met after that day. This was 15 years ago.

Yet Zoya still wanted to know why Rihaan did not accept his feelings for her. Was her intuition wrong? Was she stupid to feel the warmth of his breath when he spoke to her ? She went to the reunion. Rihaan was standing near a group of old college friends with a guitar in his hand. Then their eyes met. They smiled.

Rihaan looked at Zoya and said "For all those years that I didn't see you, I want to dedicate this song to the girl I have missed every single day after college. This one's for you Zoya..."

Rihaan sang the song Lag ja Gale ke phir yeh haseen shaam ho na ho, shayad phir is janam me mulakat ho na ho...

Zoya got swayed by old memories that night. She had loved Rihaan so much and today he accepted his feelings too. In the spur of the moment, their passion was so strong that they kissed. Suddenly Zoya's phone rang. It was her son. Reality struck her and she pushed Rihaan away.

Zoya realised that she cheated on her husband for someone who had not cared whether she was alive all these years. She went home with a heavy heart and thought to herself "I wish I had not looked back."

Life was back to normal. However, Zoya carried the burden of this one mistake all her life.
