A Dog Can

A dog can teach you patience,

How to be patient in this world full of chaos,

They silently tell you,

Be patient and you will get what you want.

A dog can teach you empathy,

They understand when you can’t walk or feed them on time,

And not even once they complain,

Because they know what you are going through.

A dog can teach you, unconditional love,

Even though your life doesn’t depend on them,

Their whole life depends on you, and they know it,

And are always there for you and love you, no matter what.

A dog can teach you forgiveness,

And that forgiving makes you a better person,

They teach you that it’s not the action that matters,

It’s the intention that matters most.

You can learn this from so many other people,

But you can learn this from just a dog.

Every dog has a story to tell,

We just have to listen.
