A Humane Doctor
A Humane Doctor
Short introduction about the poem:
The poem has been penned to eulogise the physician- Dr. G.Viswanatham who involved in various philanthropic activities to remain a unique benefactor to several beneficiaries. He served the people of Trichy and neighbouring districts in a laudable manner.
I was not a poet,
But Thy virtues made me a poet
I can’t believe
Thou could not be a human
Thou could be God
Thy medical service produces humane doctors
Yet the doctors are not equal to Thee and Thy glorious service
They can follow Thy path
Thy service nullified the meanings
Of words: pessimism, orphans and destitute
Thy optimism obliterated pessimists’ pessimism
Thy iron-will strengthened our will
Thy simplicity simplified Thy simple service
Thy magnanimity magnified Thy mettle and manners
We can’t bid adieu
For Thou always dwell in us
Thou are inseparable from us
We know, to serve the inhabitants of heaven,
Thou had a mission with a vision to visit Heaven
Thy love towards every creature
Surprises and surrenders us at Thy feet
Thou had been our visible Almighty
Thy innings as a humanitarian
Might have envied even other Gods
Being rich by birth is great
But becoming rich by hard work is greater
Thou became our God, not by legacy
But by Thy impeccable service and umpteen virtues
Even Thy journey to Heaven
Purified our thoughts and deeds
To get Thy glimpse in Heaven
Thou were precious to Thy beneficiaries during Thy golden period
Thou are a sine qua non even during Thy post-golden period
Achievers find a place in history by their incredible feat
But Thou are a creator of History
By Thy sacred service and bounteous benevolence
Dr.GVN, Thou are everything to us
