A Reminescense

A Reminescense

At times I crave so hard to go back those days,

When life could take its time and move with a much slower pace.

Days when winter did not mean nagging and complaining of the cold,

But a time when the afternoons would mean Enid Blyton books

And putting everything else on hold!

I long for those days when rain meant carelessly jumping into each and every puddle,

When I did not care about clothes or books getting wet

Or the rain making anything else end up in a state of muddle.

Long forgotten are those summer vacations which were so eagerly looked forward to,

There was playing, there was laughing,

And so many fun things to do!

But any vacation now simply means another “bunch of never ending days”,

When the mind brims over with questions

As to how many more summer projects or internships are left to face?

Weekends meant taking a break from studies and form school,

A time to be with family and play around the fool!

Unlike now when weekends are no better than other days of the week,

When our chase for our dreams and ambitions rises to a freakish peak!

Love was a word back then devoid of pain and complexity,

Whether it was love for the ice cream man or the confectioner who gave an extra toffee,

It never saw any bounds but was filled with purity.

Money back then meant just few pennies enough to buy a candy,

We never had to care that the world would give us no value

If in the future we don’t keep enough of these pennies handy!

Imagination was quite simply the solution to get everything that I ever wanted,

Not having to care about being practical

The dictionary never consisted of the words-“I can’t!”

Those days which are now just memories for us,

Were so carefree and lacked any fuss.

I long so much to go back to those days at times…

To bask in its innocence till the weariness of the present times sublimes.
