A Soldier's Plea
A Soldier's Plea
Worn out shoes to protect our feet,
Combat wear to signal our fleet,
Gun in hand we totter around
To fell the enemy on the battleground.
Do you even know why we are here?
To save our country from the imminent fear
Of violence, infiltration and militant spat
We don our gear of mortal combat.
We leave our homes, kith and kin
To fight a battle with deep pride within
Though sometimes we fail to our chagrin
We do our best to script a win.
We are but human, wanting honor and respect
When we lay down our lives to protect
The nation, that thought, don’t neglect
Our supreme sacrifices, but deign to reflect.
