A Walk To The End

A Walk To The End

The wooden floors have begun to creak,

Like my body that has grown so weak,

I’ve walked for miles and miles for days,

Now finally I can rest and pray.

Giving thanks for the years bygone,

Encompassed by a feeling of warmth,

 Friends, dreams and lemon tea,

A lovesome fervor to my heart they’d been,

Now my memory, she has taken leave.

I struggle now to retain one and all,

‘Remember!’ to myself I implore,

Tears they build up in my eyes ,

As I give thanks for the years bygone.

My beloved wife in peace she lies,

Calling upon me to join the ride,

The procession of the buried dead,

A tribe of heavenly realms it's said,

So I tail them without a single doubt,

For I’d be hers forever I had vowed.
