A science that understands, to dismay is disbelief 

A science that advocates a science that fights for,

A science that is so much more 

Behavior is it what you do, or is it who you are 

Does not judge yet strays so far

Behavior, is it me, is it you, do you know what to do

By fighting the words, that cannot come out 

How do we ask for help 

Is it hitting, scratches, or kicks 

Communicating this is the trick 

Stop, pause and wait for just a second 

Let me know what you're feeling, that would be great 

Is it like or not, is it simply no or stop 

Communicate, communicate, communicate 

Advocate for the voices heard, do not shame me into silence 

Do not place me in time out 

Stop, pause, and wait for a second 

Take some time to figure me out 

Watch my gaze and see where I look, pace through the pages of my storybook 

The title page is my name, not my behavior 

The context is my personality, not my disability 

Chapter 1 is based on my circumstance 

Chapter 2 is based on your response 

Chapter 3 is unknown as to why 

Did you even try 

Was the prefix read, something was missed, before chapter one, and in between the

 pages, something was missed 

Now you are starting to see me, now you're starting to understand 

Now ask me what I need, listen to my voice 

Who am I, you ask yourself 

No one and everyone 

Now think of me differently 

A student, didn’t you think that though? 

The world may never know

Who I am is irrelevant to a fault 

ABA is what they call me, confusing is too 

I'll tell you one thing though 

I am truly misunderstood, like most of our students here 

Take the time to listen, communicate and care 

Our time will be well spent here
