Angst
Angst
Every time, you tell me,
To smoothen my edges,
In order to fit in,
I diminish a little;
I never knew
I was rough,
Till you showed me.
Every time, you look at me,
And look away,
As if, you can’t,
Bear to see,
My pain;
I diminish a little.
I had no pain,
Till you showed me.
Every time, you turn your back,
To the questions
You didn’t want,
To hear,
I diminish a little;
I never knew,
I sought answers,
Till you showed me.
The sarcasm,
Veiled laughter,
Cruel comments,
All I take in my stride
What diminishes me,
Is when you say,
“I love you”
And I know
The look in your eyes,
Implies
“Even though
You are less
Than the others.”
