Another Year
Another Year
Another year began,
Same winter mist
Sending chills down the spine
yet refreshing.
And once again
a spotted sky-lantern up high
on New Year’s midnight;
once again a deep optimist sigh
waving away the pain of losing some more people-
those special ones,
those irreplaceable ones.
Smashing bottles over the wall
Three at night,
I decided to let everything loose
as my hands were tired of holding on
to all that didn’t want to stay.
I decided to strive;
This time, not for their love
But to find it within myself
For myself.
Another year began.
Hearts beating with the same old pace,
in new directions.
