Beloved Maa

Beloved Maa

Three years have passed today, but it all just seems like yesterday.

It was the most heartbreaking day of all,

When in the early hours of the morning, I got that dreadful call.

When I arrived at the hospital, the doctor held out his hand,

He said, "I am sorry she's gone, she has gone to another land".

I wanted to wake you up, for it looked as if you were asleep,

but the Angels had already taken you, up in the Heaven,.....to keep.

The biggest heartbreak of all is we never said goodbye,

You were gone before I knew it, far away in the sky.

If you still have your mother, please cherish her with care,

Because it only really hits you, when you turn around and she's not there.

I rarely told you I loved you and how much you meant to me Maa.

If I could walk to Heaven, I'd come and set you free Maa.

I think of you a lot, you're always in my prayer,

I know you're looking down on me, in fact, you're everywhere.

I look up at the night sky and wonder where you might be,

I would love to send you this poem, "Could you send one to me"?

I still wait for you to call, to hear you laugh at something small.

I wait to see your beautiful, curly hair,

Wait to hear one of those stories that you would always share.

I wait to hear you knock on the door,

Wait to see your shoes on the floor.

I wait to get little gifts from you,

Wait to be in your arms and hear 'I Love you'.

I have learned to lead a life like you, apart from the rest,

What a wonderful woman you were Maa, in fact, you were the best!

This poem is for you Maa, as its straight from my heart,

But writing about a spirited woman like you,

I didn't know where to start.

So, God if you're listening, tell my mother up above,

How much I really miss her and please give her all my love.

Love you Maa!
