Bitterness- A Boon
Bitterness- A Boon
In childhood days of sunlit haze,
Where laughter danced in carefree ways,
A battle waged 'twixt mom and child,
O'er greens so bitter, reconciled.
For Mom, the bitter's hidden grace,
A secret in each tender embrace,
She stirred them into pots with care,
To show her love, her deep affair.
But to our taste, oh, how it stung,
Bitterness on every tongue,
We'd wrinkle noses, push them away,
Bitterness, in our young hearts, held sway.
"Try just one bite," Mom would insist,
With pleading eyes, she would persist,
Bitterness, a lesson she'd decree,
To shape us into who we'd be.
Years rolled by, our palates changed,
Bitterness, now no longer estranged,
We found a way to savor the taste,
Bitterness, with time, embraced.
For in those greens, so bitter and green,
A love and strength, unseen, unseen,
Mom's wisdom woven in each bite,
Bitterness became a guiding light.
Now we know, as time has shown,
Mom's love in every meal was sown,
For bitter's lessons, strong and bold,
Shaped our hearts as we grew old.
So cheers to Mom, with love so deep,
For the bitter moments that we'd keep,
A love/hate dance, a memory so fond,
With Mom, our hearts forever respond.
