Tragedy

Blood Soaked Kabul In My Heart

Blood Soaked Kabul In My Heart

Whispers, can you hear me?

Your potent threats don’t scare me.

It’s a cry for help, come hither.

I won’t hide away, for the nth time now,

It is the vernal blossom, I won’t wither.

For you call this a priceless tragedy,

My men fight this hopeless malady,

My cries break the echoes of this brace,

You have prejudiced this place.

the kohl under my eyes marks the darkness of your deed,

the slashes on our backs mark the violence and your greed.

You urge me to wrap the chiffon around my head,

would it lower your gaze? Or would I be owed to the dead?

For I run with posters and placards,

“Save my Kabul, save my honor,” they say,

Whilst I hold on to deer’s life,

If only I could save the world this way.

For I am no more of a slave,

I am a torchbearer, an effigy too long toyed with,

A broken path of history I pave,

I am the incandescence of the flame you dimmed.

I look for the time, now,

Where guns and bombs need sound,

Noise louder than the sound of silence,

Because you can't destroy with plastic antics,

You can hush, but you can't quieten my rage with violence.

But I'm a Phoenix of time,

I have lived, but I won’t die.

I'm dwelling under the ruins of this deforested garden,

I've steered my way, and I look up to the sky,

I try, time and time again.
