Books are Man's Best Friend
Books are Man's Best Friend
"Books are a man’s best friend",
I used to hear my grandma say,
But I didn’t pay her much heed
And towards the television, I used to make my way.
I always used to stay away from books,
As though they were some ugly witch,
And whenever my granny offered me one,
I always ran away to play or stitch.
“Why should we read books?”
I argued with my granny all the time,
And then the way she used to look at me,
As though I had done a crime!
One day I saw a book lying,
And I thought I should read,
Then to my utmost amazement,
Developed within me unknown greed!
When I started reading that book,
To it, I remained so glued,
Minutes and hours passed by,
Without me taking any food!
Suddenly I realized that the book Witch
Had cast a spell on me,
And when I told this to my granny,
She was full of glee!
Few years passed by,
And something strange saw I,
That there was no space for me
And my granny to lie!
Now all the rooms in our house,
Have been occupied by books
And if you ever saw it,
You’d say “How MARVELOUS it looks!”
