Chirp, A Little Sparrow
Chirp, A Little Sparrow
Chirp chirp, I stir
As I hear against rain drops
Chirp Chirp, I stand still
Chirp, was that?
Chirp, How could that be?
Chirp chirp chirp,
After a long long time, did I hear that call
Chirp chirp, I step out
Excited, It was indeed
Chirp chirp, My heart swells in mirth
Chirp, I beam
Chirp, as if I had seen
Chirp chirp chirp
An old old friend from better days
Chirp chirp, there it was
Fluffy, small and incredibly jumpy
Chirp chirp I smiled in full
Chirp, looking at it pick seed
Chirp chirp chirp
Little little sparrow, Where have you been?
Chirp It settled
Under a leaf in a half-dried climber
Chirp chirp waiting for drizzle to cease
Chirp, It looked lonely
Chirp, I shivered and step back
Chirp chirp chirp
Just just think, How tough its life might have been
Nooks and crevices gone
In ritzy new apartments
Seeds and scatter gone
In sterile superstores
Gardens and park gone
In urban concrete glut
Where does it live? where does it live?
Chirp, It persisted
Bringing me back to present
Chirp chirp, when I could gladly stay in past
Chirp, when there was an army of sparrows
Chirping in my backyard
Chirp chirp chirp
Dear dear, where have they all gone?
Chirp, it flew away in a second
Chirp chirp, its noise still ringing in rain
Chirp, then went mute
Chirp just the way its clan did
Chirp chirp chirp
Little little sparrow, When will I hear you again?
