Contrast

Once, a lady, all in tatters,

Came to my car, and wailed out loud.

Two little ones followed her all around,

And an unruly pity, made me give out some money.

The next day, she came again,

And wailed out even louder,

So I gave her some more cash,

And this became her daily jones

 

When I went a little further, I found a spry little girl,

Struggling, travailing hard at a field,

When as the space between us reduced,

I realised that she was an amputee

 This world is a web of strangled comparisons,

And these two women proved it, yet again,

One, proffered with every possible boon, looks out for a facile lifestyle,

While another, with a clear absence, works with dignity, and moils forevermore!
