Dandelion Fluff

When I close my eyes I dream if wishes and dandelion fluff.

I imagine a world of love and hope where my smile is real and when people look at me they see me

. I dream of reaching out to the sun and it reaches out.

For a moment I can feel truly warm.

Then I wake up and I remember you can’t make wishes on dandelion fluff.

I forget what it’s like to be warm and what it means to be seen.

With open eyes I remember the sun abandoned me and dandelions don’t grow.

In a world with no sun, when all I can do is cry or sleep why would I wanna stay awake? 

Please let me sleep. Let me dream of wishes and love, let me dream of dandelion fluff.

But I can’t. I can’t sleep forever. So maybe if I cut my skin, maybe dandelions will bloom.
