Disguise

After two and twenty years of waiting,

You are still late,

Just like you used to be,

When we lived by the sea,

Caught the big tide and the low,

Wind in our hair, heads we bow.

The real lessons were the friends,

What if without them the story ends,

Long lines in the movie theatres at nine,

Longer yet at the phone booth, it's fine,

Never before I have so much urge to run,

Not until I wanted to run away from the fun.

I can imagine little curly hair kids,

Singing their songs making bids,

The sky is a light blue today,

They know it can anytime turn to grey.

We are here with our pain in disguise,

Our faces were painted with silky smooth smiles,

Only you and I know these are lies,

We don't cover it under the sand piles.
