Earned
Earned
I watched as oceans were drawn between us.
I succumbed as the darkness of the night hid the light,
Kindled by our love.
I failed to be the rock to shield you from the storm's tempest and from the rain's onslaught.
I let the wolves descend and rent our love in pieces.
I stood as fear took aim, shot arrows sharp and barbed,
Arrows drenched in pain.
The poison called resentment now
Flows freely through your veins.
Every tear you've shed at tombstone
Of our past, felt like a thousand needles,
Needles dipped in rage.
Rage and hate I've earned,
A fate that I deserve.
