Farewell

Farewell

Dear College, I’m sorry but-

I’m feeling a knot in my gut.

Maybe because I have to go.

Three years with you, were-

Blissful but now evaporated.

The benches have lost our touch.

The blackboard has lost our sights.

The classroom has lost our sighs.

There is an echo of memory-

Passing by on the walls.

Even the projector calls a cry.

The library though noiseless now-

Will be silent hereafter.

The staircase will have the-

Vestiges of our presence.

Time is fairly unfair!

The first class with HOD!

The first attended seminar!

The first adult novel!

The first falling for freedom!

And the bonhomie campus!

The lunch break!

The cultural celebration!

The groupies!

The shared feelings!

The cigarette butts!

And all the nostalgia!

Everything left me goosebumps.

Every single detail is overlapping-

In my memory but now time’s up.

Time is very, very up!

And It’s the eleventh hour, bidding-

The farewell to us, giving a monosyllabic-

Recognition, that is, of Ex.

Time is volatile!

Exam in every trimester!

The overnight study!

The fight for SGPA!

The paper presentation!

And the wall magazine!

The fine department!

The gemmy professors!

The homely vibe with classmates!

The badly missed bench partners!

The hectic days!

And the tired homecoming!

Everything was hunky-dory.

Tear’s rolling down the cheeks.

My heart is falling apart.

The frame is overflowing with faces.

Memory’s throbbing in the chest.

And now willy-nilly the very end-

Has come to pass. The inevitable end!

That snatched the golden time and-

Let us be no more an active part;

But a mere passive vulnerable past—

Nothing more and nothing less.
