How Poor are You?
How Poor are You?
We all have seen,
One or other times,
In our small but,
Seemingly large lives.
Times when we could not,
Afford to have a toy we liked,
Or a dress we loved,
Will holes so deep set,
Into our pockets.
We grieve in our abject poverty,
Feel a sense of self-pity,
A wish to be that someone else,
Who we know we cannot be.
Someone who could afford anything,
Someone who could afford everything.
But wait!
Is there really that someone else?
Think and see,
Poverty is much beyond,
What we can see.
Everyone is poor,
Only relativity differs.
For a childless person,
A child is the fortune,
For a jobless,
The Job.
For a pauper,
Money is the treasure,
For a shoeless,
A pair of shoes.
But,
As I heard once,
"I grieved as I had no shoes,
Till I saw someone with no feet."
So,
Count your blessings,
And think of your fortunes,
Instead of the Seemingly abject
"Poverty"
For,
When you have no shoes,
There still are others with no feet to walk.
