Human Nature
Human Nature
Blue orchids have embalmed the skin of many individuals,
Watch now from beneath the flesh, their hidden nature free
But bring gray incense with yourself, thou unsuspecting spirit
For it’s a terrible affair, sprinkled with living water,
It’s a deceiving wall, a veil, a mocking feast for crows
When people smile face to face, but in their hearts, they growl.
There are shadows behind glinted eyes and soft smiles become curved,
You do not expect the edge of the knife so sharp, so depraved
Thinking it be only myth, but the graves don’t lie…
Fortunately, there are doves who fly around the brilliant sky,
Their smiles are genuine, their shining eyes an alluring hue
They stay like thinking statues and offer counsel in the storm,
They never leave you to wilt and to be torn.
Then there are hybrids, pantomimes
Who play life’s game with such subtlety,
You never know if they’re friend or foe,
There should have been a manual.
But each of these categories shares one thing in common,
They dance the waltz of their lives, encounter good and evil.
