Hunger

Hunger

176

I waited at station, agitated

As train blow oscillated.

Among the people called poor

I fascinated a man shrouded,

Tongue sticking to grey floor.

Disgust tapered my cheeks,

Acid invaded my throat.

In jibe to his bundled grey mane

A loathing mouse geared.

Over and across, a game of gutter

The parched cheek twitched,

Weakened hand hunted the vermin,

Pauper squeezed his prey,

Rat eyes reflected, desiccated guffaw

He tore his alms and gnawed.

My entails squeezed and spilled,

Oh hunger! Save my hurl.
