I Am India
I Am India
You took a butcher's carving knife
Amputated my arms left and right
Shrunk me in size, drew boundary lines with blood spills, following the genocide
Dividing peoples, with a purpose in mind
And that purpose was served, by sowing
Seeds of mistrust; creating a rift in the Indian subcontinent, that once stood united.
You ruled over me for over two hundred years
Raped, plundered, looted, what was mine,
Crippling my economy, while you prospered.
I am the brightest jewel in your crown and
You never wanted to leave my shores
Till I rose up in arms demanding freedom.
You may claim to have given me railroads, bridges, education, industry, electricity,
But that doesn't compensate for tipping the scales in your favor.
One day in the near future, my citizen will
Be your prime minister, the only difference will
Be there will be no 'et to you 'et to a brute?'
As in Julius Ceasar, for my people know
Not to take revenge on one another.
