If Only
If Only
If only I could get back those days,
Where, my hungry tummy saw my
Innocent eyes searching for my mother;
Where bruises showed up on my knees every
Alternate day, on account of falls at the playground.
Those bruises, today I realize, hurt much
Less than the nostalgia at present. Those
Unforgettable rainy days, where packed in
A sack like yellow raincoat, I would go to school.
How I wish those days were mine again!
If only "baba" again could pretend to be a horse,
On whom, I would ride and go about the house.
If only I could mix flour and water together
In a bowl, to feed my dolls every night.
If only I could fall again and just bruise my
Knees, with my dreams intact. If only,
Fall was measured as a physical fall still.
If only I could again rush to "baba" to get my shoes polished.
If only I could again play with my kitchen set.
If only "maa" made me tea every evening.
How I wish those day were back!
