Malady Of The New Generation!
Malady Of The New Generation!
Them ol’ folks, they say to me
The fruit of patience is sweet indeed,
Ah! That may the case with you be,
No thanks! It’s too long a wait for a gen-next kid!
We symbolize with immense pride
All things concise, compressed and zipped,
On YouTube and Kindle, doth our childhood ride,
Even our fairytales come in versions abridged!!!
LMAO, LOL, FTW and WTF
Forms the basis of our language!
ROFL, STFU, MEH and Bae,
See how effectively, I do convey!
I embrace the SMS lingo, with all its flaws
No Commas, no full stops, punctuation goes for a toss
For every word, I invent a spelling,
Thesaurus you say? Ah! I am past caring!
Grandma’s stories? Not for me, oh no!
I exercise my brain with Pokémon GO!
Outdoor games? Now please do not go gaga,
We are entertained with Candy crush saga!!!
A less than a 100 likes on FB
Is the greatest misery to befall me?
Ah! My hashtag got retweeted thrice?!!
It’s a dream come true, now let’s rejoice!
Easy to cook, frozen food ready to eat,
Muesli bars, cereals, fiber biscuits are hard to beat
Stuff them for all dinner, lunch, and repast
A balanced meal is a thing of the past!
Pouting, pirouetting in numerous selfies
With emoji and smilies, attending parties
My social standing is defined,
By number of friends on FB, Tinder and the kind!
Some one died? Oh, my condolences on FB,
Even at the funeral, I pose for a selfie!!!
The next moment, I am tweeting wishes,
For a birthday, anniversary, marriage or a new purchase!
Hiding behind a cyber name anonymous,
I troll authors and blogs, while being inconspicuous,
Hurl threats, abuses, insults, till I am at the end of my wits,
With mere words, his reputation torn apart into bits…
Slaves to technology, puppets in its hands,
Blinded by glamour and the glitz of brands,
I harbor a world of AI and Sci-fi,
I can live without oxygen, but not without WIFI!!
My emotions too, just like me,
Are an artificial thread of treachery,
Less of a human, more of a bot,
A gizmo freak, machine toting idiot!
In my hurry to progress, I have left far behind,
My dear ones, is there a smart phone to rewind?
From my device infested world, when I look back,
The road to redemption, I seem to have lost the track
