Me And My Spouse

Me And My Spouse

Me and my spouse are like cat and mouse.

We have fun together, we argue together and then return back to our douse.

The simple reason being we both know that no matter what happens, we have to live in the same house.

During our arguments, we sometimes end up forgetting our wedding vows.

Even then, our love for each other makes us check each other's whereabouts.

Late in the night, my sleepy and tired husband

always wants to browse,

And it is the typical and rational wife in me that always disallows.

The dutiful husband that he is, he gives me a stare and just allows.

He is cute that way, he will always make hundreds of plans and announce;

When his plans don't actually work out the way he said, it is always me who shouts.

Most of the times, his sudden plans are successful and make me overjoyed. Out of excitement and nervousness, the silly me just lets out an ouse.

When my overthinking mind works too much and I ask him tons of questions, all he does is smile and says, " Trust me. I am there. Why do you still have your doubts?"

I like dressing up while going out while he prefers me being simple. While getting ready and trying to look perfect for myself and him, I notice his eyes follow me everywhere; as if he is looking at me for the very first time. All I end up doing while avoiding his intense gaze is adjusting my blouse.

When we are both dressed to perfection, we look like a match made in heaven. Both equally good looking, equally charming. Who looks better? We ask each other and always have a joust.

We are poles apart. He is naughty while I am shy. He loves teasing and irritating me. At times, I take his jokes lightly and we both share a good laugh. When his jokes get a tad bit too much for me to handle, all I want to do with him is pounce.

Even though I don't actually pounce on him, we have a war of words. A terrible one, if you ask me. While he enjoys pulling my legs and having his share of fun, I am always at the receiving end. I am the one who will always flounce.

Honestly, I have no idea what made me fall for him. Definitely, it wasn't about his looks. He is way opposite of what I had imagined my ideal man to be. I guess he also had different ideas when it came to how his life partner should be. Perhaps it was just meant to be. Destiny played its part and that's why we are now espouse.

Our relationship isn't perfect. Actually, no one's is. You have to work hard everyday to keep it strong. Tons of compromises, tons of let go's and tons of adjustments from both ends. When it gets a bit too much to handle, a human tends to have his or her redoubts.

That's normal. I would say. The key to a healthy relationship is ignoring the flaws and appreciating the good qualities of each other. All I know is he cares more about me even though he doesn't show much. His actions speak so even though his words may say the complete opposite. When we're on a video call, our faces are irritated but our eyes are purely in love. That is when we show each other our pouts.

I love him and he loves me. We both get jealous when one partner is admired or appreciated by the opposite sex. Seems normal as well as cute at times. A little bit of jealousy indicates lots of love. We both are silly with each other. At times, one is mature and one is childish. It's all about balance. When life throws lemons at you, all a couple has to do together is bounce.

That's just the way it is. Me and my spouse are like cat and mouse.
