My Friend And I
My Friend And I
Remember the long ago when we lay together
In a pain of tenderness and counted
Our dreams: long summer afternoons
When the whistling-thrush released
A deep sweet secret on the trembling air;
Blackbird on the wing, bird of the forest shadows,
Black rose in the long ago summer,
This was your song:
It isn't time that's passing by,
It is you and I.
Made out with all learnings
But couldn't really stop life's yearning
Stupid puzzles within
We couldn't solve
One sin truly committed
Life couldn't absolve
Hard to believe
Why back-benchers are never liked
Still baffled
Why success is always hyped
Heard someone say find your anchors else life will be torn
How to make them realize stage is already set and the show must go on.....
And now the curtains falls revealing the shared anchors within.
To which the crowd applauds
Two more sinners sinned till all was absolved.
