My Mother
My Mother
In a dark dawn, I saw a lovely face,
Was it my mother, sister or someone else?
The familiar face looked at me so deeply and close,
She kissed me on my small forehead,
Oh, what a spontaneous touch it was!
It brought me into the conscious world,
I realised the meaning of real birth,
And my face had blossomed like a flower,
She grasped me gently to lay in her lap,
And I became a chick under motherly protection,
Oh God, what a wonderful affection she had!
Like a hen that hatched her maiden chick,
I sensed like a toy in a baby's breast,
Her warmth made me feel like the chamber of the womb,
Oh, what a marvellous moment it was!
It realised me the deep feelings of in and out,
She spelt something into my little ear,
What was she trying to tell me?
I didn't know as I was an infant,
Who had to see, sense and suck?.
