New Year's Eve
New Year's Eve
REJOICE
He said YES
His eyes reflected believe,
"Yes, you can go"
My father understood me
I love him and he loves me too.
"Be by nine" he added
I grinned, overwhelmed,
A fifteen aged girl could party,
this New Year's Eve.
BLITHE
They dance, they eat,
They enjoy this time
Then I know the meaning
"Last day of Year,
welcome of new life"
They wait till twelve
But I had to leave by nine.
ALONE
Hurry..its already ten.…
The roads are barren,
This solitude is a bliss.
There is faint hooting and howling,
But the cold breeze,
with loneliness soothes
Why can't I enjoy every eve.
FEAR
I hear the bottles rumbling
Some men are behind me
Are they following me?
They giggle and guffaw,
I hear and fear them.
I sweat, I want to scream
The road is lone, dark and still.
PAIN
Someone grabs my wrist
Someone pulls my hair,
They lay me on the road, bare
I feel the pain rising
I cry I scream, I resist,
The wild has found its prey.
They bite, they scratch
Their eyes red, and mind black.
NOTHING
I feel nothing
The winds don't impinge me
And I lay bare like a broken doll
Stained in blood and sweat,
Waiting to greet this world
'Good bye'
And "Happy New Year".
