I don't want to go back

I don't regret the past

Though love was an illusion

And passion did not last.

I don't regret your going

I don't wish you with me

Our parting was meant to happen

Just as meeting was destiny.

I learnt a lot about life

And every lesson hurt me

I don't regret those growing pains

For they forged a stronger me.

So I will go on steadily

On the path I have set

If we should meet again

I'll smile and say "well met".

Perhaps as I turn away

I'll need to wipe my eye

My heart will break a little

But I won't regret goodbye.
