NOT A DAMSEL IN DISTRESS!

Who said boys can’t cry and girls can’t be strong?” 

The princess was never afraid of the dragon,

Nor did she need herself a knight,

She had a sword and her courage would serve as her wagon,

But what scared her were the castle walls that had grown on her like the dark night.

But what was it that had proved so treacherous that she was locked away?

Was it about her choice to pick the scythe instead of the crown?

And even when the times ‘evolved’, the modern fairytale walks the archaic way,

No sooner does the voice speak than it is hushed, no sooner does the mind think than dreams are left to drown.

But when they tried to contain the spark- it grew into a firework- a wildfire,

And enigmas like stars hold the power to fulfil wishes even as they fall,

And so the princess renounced the charred earth and swore to survive even the circumstances dire,

For she was no damsel in distress but her own knight in shining armour- she waged a war against it all.

Diamonds are formed under immense pressure & gold is purest after kissing the flame,

So she tore down the walls that trapped her; 

 She wasn’t looking for a heart to love but a mind to rule with – she was no pawn but the queen in this game,

For this is a modern fairytale and it’s you who writes how the story ends.
