One Last Feeling
One Last Feeling
Is it too bad to feel?
What’s within, but buried!
Buried under layers of dried off leaves, dead butterflies, bee stings, paper cuts, head injuries, Broken bones and a broken heart
Buried hurt of the leftover hairspray from last night
Hurt from a word, inching and pinching through the slime inside the brain
Hurt from a new look on an old face, and an old smell on a new neck
Hurt that’s undone by a walk in the rain Or one gaze at the stars in the sky?
But how can you feel?
Under the carbon-aged layers of hurt and pain
Hurt that looks like sediments in glacial plain
Hurt that can only be seen when nobody’s looking
Hurt that shows in the wrinkles next to the eyes and are thickened with every pulled up smile
Hurt from the thought of death while looking at the one you love
Tell me how to feel
Tell me how, because I don’t feel anymore.
