Like all the rest? Did you eat them?

Thinking they were a carrot? What?

Or do you forget, what could have happened

The last time you saw them? Was it a long time

Ago? Were they burnt or did you throw them away?

Yes. No.No. Is this the Spanish Inquisition?

I know what happened. I am not proud

I could have done better. I did not, I allowed

The miscellany of the world overloads me

It is as it is. A past event cannot be replayed

I lost the photograph albums, the photographs

The memories, the people who are no more.

So, all I have left is my memory; imperfect as it is

Poking and prodding me. Do you remember this?

I say yes. I have no independent record of it.
