SOLDIERS

Knowing it might be their last day on Earth, 

All of them charged forward, determined to prove their worth.

Running through the paths, conquering the land, 

Gathering their courage, they took a stand.

Irrespective of colour, gender or power,

Louder than bombs, their screams will devour.

Valorous they were, their hearts left at the door, 

Incredible they were, fighting the war.

Just how many lives lost, no one kept count,

All that matter was that they remained in our hearts.

Young or old, strong or weak,

Determined they were, to reach the peak. 

Independence was the goal, and that's where they reached.

Winners, they were, even the deceased.

As this day arrives, let us honour,

Soldiers that got us back our power.
