Soulmates

The waves screamed their happiness out,
Every time they reached the shore.
Exhibiting equal despair
Every time they departed.
I wonder how the shore lets it go.
Alas! It knew waves would be back,
It trusted them to, and this trust
That never for once was broken.

Beaches are my favourite places
For reasons very much known
Every morning, I see the sun rising that sets
In the evening, with a promise to come back.
I see the horizon bringing the sea and the sky closer
Although it secretly knows they'll never meet.

And as the night closed in
With the temperature steadily falling
The waves came closer every second
Engulfing me in darkness of the no moon night.

Here, I suppose, I found peace
The moonless darkness of my soul
Kept agonizing the pain of my rather young heart
Until it met the moonless sky that so wonderfully
Hid the darkness behind those twinkling stars.

All I could hear now was my melancholic heart
Shrieking and squealing, begging to be heard
Tired it was, of all the silence
It kept withholding,
While the storm kept ripping it further apart.

Now I knew how it felt
When you are broken with pieces
That lay in space floating
Just like any other debris
Pieces that you couldn't join, it was
A jigsaw that wanted to be solved.

Could you not let me know
That you were the boat that
Hated shores and tried reaching
The middle of the ocean
And not the water that'd stay
With me till eternity for I here was the shore.

You left me here in solitude
In utter darkness and nothing beyond,
I kept collecting my broken self
I kept finding my way out
I kept filling my emptiness and
While you found your soulmate,
I kept searching for mine.
