Team Spirit (Nov. 13. Theme: Game)
The cardboard spread and our heads bent
The game was afoot to shove away feelings pent,
Up we went or down we fell in ignominy
This see-saw taught lessons found in many a homily.
I loved to play snakes and ladders with cousins,
We played for hours, keeping and plucking a plate of raisins,
Board games are the best among indoor sport,
I could not afford to play the ball in an indoor court.
Cricket and football are games that need team players,
The nation looks up to them, as though’ they’re soothsayers.
Whatever maybe the game, sportsmanship is the thing,
Whereby we are made pauper or a King,
As the Little Master played his knocks in the ground,
As our team won the World Cup in an overseas grass mound –
Whatever may be – individual or teamwork
Winning a game, calls for opening of a cork.
