That Day
That Day
'Rise and shine doctor, you've made it'
That's how-morning, for me, had begun
My eyes, semi-open, saw that helter-skelter he'd run
That glitter in his eyes, that glow on his face
He looked like 7 years old to me, I could see his heart race
Oh, a big row of calls there were, on his phone
He would respond to all of them, in the happiest, humble tone
I could never forget how proud I'd made my father that very day
No other sight would make me any happier than that, I'd rather say
'A tiny milestone this is, little girl'-said the king to his princess
'....and with honest hard work, you'd reach much greater heights'-to you I bless
We prayed we danced, we laughed, and cried, tired, we went to bed
That day still remains a fairytale,
'Rise and shine, doctor' still echoes, as clearly, as that day, in my head
