That Morning At 4

The time I first saw you it was just another summer college day,

You were having a good time with your friends n all I could think about doing was walking up to you and saying hey.

There I was standing in the corner being my normal confident self,

But as u passed by it was like oh god! please help.

Time passed fleetingly by and days turned into months and years,

Finally, I sent u a request despite all my fears.

Thanks to this lockdown that you accepted it at last,

Finally, I got to do something which I couldn’t in the past.

Now we started talking and we’re getting closer,

But you ain’t that easy to get and decided to be my opponent in our little game of soccer.

Even though I knew nothing about it still I tried to make u smile with a lullaby,

Failed miserably n u were like “tumse na hoga rhne de mere bhai”.

You are so good at hiding how you feel and keeping people at bay,

Know this for sure I’ll be the one taking you away.

So Miss “self goalkeeper” I’ll be the one scoring right past you when everything is said and done,

Cuz to me girl you’re the only one.

Now it’s 4 in the morning and you are fast asleep,

Every bond will change with the passage of time except that it’s the one I’ll always want to keep.
