The father of the nation, an apprentice of Ahimsa,
He reasoned it to be his first article of faith and last of his creed,
The power of the powerless, of the mighty Gods,
Its reverse brings nothing but destruction and hate,
Thus, deemed the old man through his practices and traits.
Off he marched to South Africa at the turn of the century,
Brought there by him, the satyagraha philosophy,
He denounced untouchability and discrimination as well,
Earthly realms claimed him a model of inspiration;
A spiritual fighter, he fought vividly for his nation,
A patriot by nature, a changer of the world,
Always shall he be cherished in the minds and souls,
Of all those who stand proud on Indian soil.
