The Battle Within
The Battle Within
Bullets flying from every corner,
With the aim—
To kiss an unknown foreigner.
While, they, like courageous knights dressed in armour;
Fought relentlessly the game---BATTLE.
But, Alas! They could never win the battle within........
Death flashed through their eyes,
Only to be overshadowed
By the thought of the duty,
To which they were tied.
Not in the battle, fought outside;
The poor ones were trapped between the heart and mind.
Alas! They could never win the battle within.........
Sap dripping off the injured trees;
The adrenaline rushed like roaring seas,
Their souls questioned them ‘bout humanity,
Just when they were reminded of that impending ‘duty'.
But, Alas! Could they ever win the battle within?...
Killing an innocent--
Was the last thought they'd ever have,
But couldn't do anything-
As (they) were helpless, miserable and sad.
Their misery hidden underneath their envisages,
Full of enthusiasm, anger and hatred.
Alas!.........
Unable to realise their original enemy,
Couldn't help but ponder
At God's irony--
The skilled soldiers left unskilled
Sadly, by their own duty,
Which they had, had to fulfil.
Alas! They would never win the battle within........(2)
